Ventura County Collectible & Money Show set for Sunday

A collectibles event of a type we haven’t seen in Ventura County for some time is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday in the Sunset Ballroom West at Los Robles Greens Golf Course.

Armen Moloian Rare Coins is putting on The Ventura County Collectible & Money Show featuring gold, silver currency, jewelry, sports memorabilia, designer handbags, stamps, antiques, comic books and many other collectibles.

Admission is $3; children under 13 and all active and military veterans are admitted free.

A flier about the event says that the first 200 people in the door will receive a gift. Drawings for coins and other collectibles will be held during the show.

Los Robles Greens Golf Course is at 299 S. Moorpark Road in Thousand Oaks.

Young collectors attend Youth Stamp Day

An unfortunate combination of the Easter weekend, Passover, school closures and many young people on family trips cut the attendance at the Goebel Adult Community Center Youth Stamp Day on April 31.

The good news, however, is that those who did attend had lots of smiles, won a variety of prizes and found lots of stamps for their collections.

I heard two counts, 13 and 15, which might be the smallest turnout ever. Total attendance was higher, of course, because the adults who bring the youths don’t register.

With luck, we’ll still see stamp exhibits at the Ventura County Fair from the Conejo Valley’s young collectors. Members of a club at the EARTHS Magnet School are helped by Jennifer Fry, a teacher at the school. Members of the Goebel Center stamp club and Ventura County Philatelic Society have helped the young exhibitors with advice and donations of material. The students have done nice work for the past several years.

Young collectors from all over the county are welcome at the fair. Check the fair’s website (https://www.venturacountyfair.org/fair/) periodically for the exhibiting rules. The fair runs Aug. 1-12, and members of the Ventura County Philatelic Society expect to staff a booth at the fair every hour the fair is open.
